Continuing Tradition: Contemporary Embroidery
June 24, 2025
September 20, 2025
Curated by Trudi Van Dyke
Looking back to a long history of embroidery over time it becomes clear that it was either utilitarian or decorative. Recently, a new generation of artists have begun to place value in embroidery and other textile arts as homage to their origins and in reaction to our times. This invitational exhibition highlights a spectrum of works that relate to traditional embroidery in ways sometime obvious and sometimes not. However each challenges the viewer's preconceptions and opens the door to the many facets of embroidery today.
