"Harrisonburg" is inspired by an antique quilt affectionately known as the "Spitzer Sister" quilt. It resides in the collection of the Virginia Quilt Museum. Finished quilt size is 78" x 93". Paper pattern is on 8 1/2" x 11" paper.
The original quilt is scrappy. If you choose to make a random scrappy version, instructions and fabric yardage calculations are done in such a way that they will fit any scrappy combination. Materials and cutting instructions follow.
If a more uniform look is desired, yardage requirements are provided. Eighteen different fabrics plus background fabric is used to make the blocks with the leftover fabrics used to make the 9-Patch Cornerstone units as well as the Diamond-in-a-Square units in the outer border. Materials and cutting instructions follow. Please note illustrations and instruction are based on controlled scrappy version, but can easily be adjusted for random scrappy version.
