Quilts The Museum's Permanent Collection consists of over 150 quilts dating from 1810 to the present. The quilts represent the many styles found throughout quilting history: whole cloth, Baltimore Album, friendship, crazy quilts, redwork, applique, traditional pieced patterns, feedsack quilts and contemporary art quilts. Each quilt is an important part of our quilting heritage and each has its own story to tell.
The permanent collection is displayed on a continuously rotating basis in the second floor galleries of the museum. There, visitors can enjoy the beautiful colors and designs of the quilts and learn from the quiltmaking techniques represented, all part of the Virginia Quilt Museum's mission to preserve our quilting heritage and promote the continued practice of quiltmaking. |
