VQM Kicks off 2017 Season!
Our first visitor of the 2017 Season arrived ten minutes after this morning's opening and what a delight she was! Ofilia hails from just east of us in the town of Massanutten and is a member of the Shenandoah Valley Quilt Guild. Even better still, as of today, she is a member of the Virginia Quilt Museum as well!
Thanks for helping us ring in this new year of beautiful quilts Ofilia!
Thank you to all of the wonderful Virginia Quilt Museum Members and supporters who gave so generously to the "Rocking Chair Campaign: A New Porch for an Old House" effort!
With an initial goal of $20,000, we ultimately raised $27, 804. This amount included a critical $5,000 in matching funds from Moda Fabrics as well as donations by 130 individuals and quilt guilds. We cannot thank everyone enough for your outpouring of generosity!
We invite everyone to come to the VQM on February 14th, 2017, our Opening Day for the 2017 Season, for the ribbon cutting on our brand new (safe & beautiful) porch!
You may have heard about it, you may have even seen pictures of it, but have you seen our "Inspired by the National Parks" exhibit in person?!?
There is nothing like seeing the bright colors, mixed media and breathtaking scenes of these quilts up close and personal!
If you have not yet visited the exhibit, plan your visit now. The quilts will only be here through Saturday, Sept. 10th!

STASH BLAST - A FUN FABRIC FUNDRAISER!
Thanks to all the fabric donors, shop sponsors, and stash shopaholics who came out to First Presbyterian Church on April 9th for the VQM's "Stash Blast: A Fabric Flea Market". So many colors. So many textures. So many designs!
More than 60 shoppers took home bags of greatly discounted fabric stash thanks to our many fabric donors. With the Virginia Quilt Museum as the beneficiary of this fundraiser, it was truly a win-win event. The shoppers gathered fabric for their next project, and the Museum gathered cash for its operational funds. Wonderful!
Keep your ears to the ground for the release date of our summer Stash Blast, this time hitting the road and travelling to Blacksburg.
Happy sewing and THANK YOU for supporting the Virginia Quilt Museum!

The VQM's Spring season officially opened Tuesday to great success! Our first visitor wasted no time, driving up from Petersburg to be able to witness the opening promptly at 10:00 AM. Once inside, she were able to explore our multi-story Three Decades of a Quilting Friendship exhibit, greeted by the quilting friends themselves, Constance Norton and Violet Cavazos. She encountered the freshly unveiled Conservation Lab, ready for the quilts that several other visitors would bring for examination throughout the day. Our 2016 Visitor #1 was so impressed that she opted to become a member by the end of their visit, intending to return time and time again! After an exciting opening day, the Quilt Museum is primed to carry that vibrant energy throughout the season.
The Virginia Quilt Museum staff and membership wishes to congratulate the following individuals on their election to the Virginia Quilt Museum's 2016 Board of Directors. Asterisks designate first-time members.
