Call for Entries - "Men Who Quilt"
The Virginia Quilt Museum (VQM) is mounting an exhibit, “Men Who Quilt”. Men, who live in Virginia, will be eligible to enter their quilts. This will be a juried exhibit. The jury will comprise of two VQM board members and the curator.
Also, men who are quilt collectors may enter a quilt if it has been made by a male quilter in Virginia. This entry can be an antique quilt; however, the provenance must be clear with some documentation. For example, images of the maker, letters etc. There are several historic examples of quilts made by veterans rehabilitating after military service. The quilt will need to be stable enough to mount for the length of the exhibit.
If the quilt is accepted, it will need to be available August 25th through December 20, 2014. The exhibit will be installed the week of August 25th and open to the public on September 2nd, 2014.
Since this is a new adventure for VQM, the entry process will be casual. Digital images of entries will need to be sent to VQM by August 11, 2014. The entries will be reviewed by the jury. The artist will be notified by August 14, 2014 if their quilt has been accepted for the exhibit.
Following notification of acceptance, the artist will need to complete a VQM in-coming loan agreement. This agreement must accompany the quilt upon delivery to VQM on or by August 25. For more information, please contact Gloria Comstock, Curator/Registrar.
