Civil War Gallery

The Women Who Stayed Behind

The wives, mothers, sisters, and daughters of this era watched their men leave to fight while they stayed home to serve with their needlework. This gallery features quilts made by these women who stayed behind and tell the stories of their bravery. Featuring quilts of the era, photographs, and other memorabilia, this gallery features the work of several area women who did their part for the Confederacy’s cause.
