Executive Director 

 

Kimberly McCray joined the Virginia Quilt Museum as Executive Director in 2015. Previously the Director of the Port o' Plymouth Museum in eastern North Carolina, McCray hails from near Staunton, VA. She has a M.A. in Library Science from the University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, a M.A. in Public History from North Carolina State University, and a B.A. in History from James Madison University. In addition to  museum management, McCray has a background in education, having served as a teacher with the U.S. Peace Corps in Ukraine, a teaching assistant at North Carolina State University, and as a tutor with the Shenandoah Valley Migrant Education Program and other ESL organizations. 

 

 

Curator/Registrar 

 

Gloria Comstock joined the Virginia Quilt Museum as Curator/Registrar in 2013. A 2010 graduate of the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Masters of Arts History of Textiles and Quilt Studies program, she has researched the Hortense Horton Beck Education Collection. Her research has included an internship working with the Seminole Ethnographic Textile Collection. In 2006 and 2010 she coordinated the Quilting Natural Florida I and II Exhibitions at the Univ. of Florida Museum of Natural History in Gainsville, FL. Prior to joining the VQM, Comstock was Asst. Curator at the Florida Museum of Natural History.
